Nine Questions I Love to Ask

1. How are you?
2. How are your teeth?
3. What quality do you most wish for yourself?
4. What causes you pain?
5. What have you sacrificed, and for what have you sacrificed it?
6. May I offer you some whiskey?
7. Might you talk with me awhile?
8. What do you see as the best of yourself?
9. What moved you enough that you did that?

Nine Questions I Would Never Ask

1. What is the matter with you?
2. May I have some drugs?
3. What do you think of my reputation?
4. Am I insane?
5. Is it dangerous?
6. What will it cost me?
7. Don't you think you have had enough?
9. Are you alright?

It is unlikely that I shall be joining tenspot, but I may occasionally make lists of nine (or more or fewer) things that parallel their prompts, or do not parallel their prompts.

Questions call me.
so I answer

1. How are you?
Slightly chaotic. Unhappy with what-is, hopeful of what-will-be. Understanding universal love. Wishing others did. Hopeful and genuinely happy with people.

2. How are your teeth?

I've got a bad wisdom tooth right now *grumble* but otherwise - ok. Not great, just ok.

3. What quality do you most wish for yourself?
Some success. Or perhaps just less fear of "newness". That's perhaps being too honest though.

4. What causes you pain?
When people hurt. (I truly don't know my own pain - I miss measure and misunderstand it)

5. What have you sacrificed, and for what have you sacrificed it?
I have sacrificed a life I once could have had so that someone could be happy. It worked. Twice.

6. May I offer you some whiskey?
Sure. I'll rustle us up a fire to chat around and some nice cosy chairs. Perhaps a tune on flute or fiddle and definitely a story.

7. Might you talk with me awhile?
Of course.

8. What do you see as the best of yourself?
Sometimes I see people for who they are. Sometimes I can see people as angels do.
Sometimes I can remind them of that.
A lady I once brought home to her faith and she's never been far from her happiness since.

9. What moved you enough that you did that?
It was needed.

Nine Questions I Would Never Ask

1. What is the matter with you?
Fear of foolishness. (irrelevant, nothing is wrong)
2. May I have some drugs?
Not unless your life depends on it. (illusions, unnecessary, dangerous)
3. What do you think of my reputation?
I never see people for their reputations. (illusions based on misunderstandings)

4. Am I insane?
No

5. Is it dangerous?
No

6. What will it cost me?
Your fear.

7. Don't you think you have had enough?
Not as long as there is joy in the world - as long as there is I keep hope.

9. Are you alright?
I do believe so, yes.

I never intended that these be answered, especially the second set, as there are various reasons I would not ask them. Nevertheless, I surely love to ask the first set.

1. That sounds good. An insightful and thoughtful evaluation of potential and intent.
I love to ask this because I genuinely wish to know just such things - how people truly are.

2. I read about your tooth. I wish you all the best and would surely accompany you if you wished, had I not to work, which alas I do.
I love to ask this because, again, I am genuinely interested and hope for complex tooth tales.

3. You seem courageous about newness, but there is no courage without fear. As far as success goes, I will wish that for you also.
*smiles* Nothing is too honest. That is why I ask. Also, because I intend to inspire hope.

4. Yes, it is possibly the same with me.
I ask because I wish to heal, and because it is another question that lets me see people truly, as long as it is pain and not desire for attention. Pain with strength, not pain with survival.

5. I am trying to put your hints together. I am doing my very best.
I ask this because it is the key question - what makes people human, to my mind.

6. & 7. Excellent. I do not see enough of you.
Obviously, I ask this because I wish an affirmative answer for companionship and the chance to explore the other questions.

8. That is brilliant, and could perhaps not have a better answer. This is what I try to do.
I ask the question in hopes that I might see more beauty in others in whom I already see beauty, that I might share it, perhaps by letting others look at themselves in a positive light, as they may not be accustomed to doing.

9. This, of course, is a vague question without pertinent circumstances. but it is to see again what is in others hearts - what motivates them, what they hold highest and who they are.

1. I would never ask this because it is negative. People are either not introspective enough to answer, or they are introspective enough to answer and therefor need to think of the future and how to be their best rather than their worst.

2. I would never ask this because, while I will defend others' right to them, they are not for me. I would rather be clear-headed, always. As far as medicinal drugs go, I would take them as needed. I've taken very very few and would never ask for them but would rather ask if they were strictly necessary.

3. I would never ask this because I do not care.

4. I would never ask this because the answer is 'no' and again, I do not care about other's opinions of my sanity.

5. and 6. If something is important, I am unlikely to care if it is dangerous or if it bears a cost. And John Certainly did not care.

7. Experience builds character, and it is not my business to prevent other's from their folly but to see them, as you say, from the point of view of angels.

8. Apparently I forgot 8. I cannot count. Apparently.

9. There is no reason to ask this question because the answer is Always 'yes' unless someone is, as above self-indulgent or merely seeking attention.

I never intended that these be answered, especially the second set, as there are various reasons I would not ask them. Nevertheless, I surely love to ask the first set.

I am not only curious beyond necessary, but I am also almost irresistibly drawn to answering questions :)

1. Thank you. I do not know if I am like any other - however I do wish more understood "universal love". It takes some... sacrifice?

2. I have been unwise and should have had it examined... rather before now. As of this point the dentist I went to was unprepared and afraid of the work necessary. My back wisdom teeth are ... damaged... and rather inaccessible. (they are also apparently unsalvageable).

3. Thank you. I'm still working on that - I can only stand so much change at once and must prepare to handle more. It will make changing my home easier.

4. That is a noble answer.

5. I have sacrificed my own life - twice. Not wholly as I still live and breathe - but I have left behind a life that could have been in order that another could have been happy. I wish my presence in someone's life could make another happy - but that has not as yet happened. (I mean so in that close relationship sense - for some reason it's important to me)

6. & 7. We shall indeed find the opportunity for meeting more. Until then, there are these words on electronic pages. I do look forward to further. It would be good.

8. Thank you. Your question is beautiful and inspirational - and precisely the right one to ask.

9. It also is a good question. More often than not the answer I gave is the one I give. *wide grin*.
Part of the price of seeing possibilities is the call of acting when necessary.

onto the next, briefly:
1. Good reason. 'tis more fun to ask what joy a person carries :)
2. Good answer. I am of a faith where "drugs" are occasionally (not for me though - I do not need them) - part of the proper celebration.
The casual use (misuse) of these are one of the ills of the modern era.
3. *laughs* so true!
(4 and 5 I do not worry about)
6. I am studying the long road to being a Speaker of the Gods (with Odhinn as teacher). Facing that light - or the light of the God of Abraham - or even to face one who speaks-from-beyond: will cost one one's fear. Facing that - burns the chains away.
Some cannot bear the cost. If I wear that face - I must ask this question. This too is the price of that "profession". Few others should ever need ask for theirs.

7. Thank you :)

8. Some questions need never be stated nor asked :)

9. The Japanese say "Daishobou?" when someone is hurt. (Are you OK?). The answer could be "Daishobou." (I am okay). It doesn't translate well. There is a time and a place for this question.
